Obituary for Iris Banks

Iris M. Banks, 86, of The Briarlea and formerly a life-long resident of Cabot Dr., Moncton, passed away peacefully within the comforts of her home on Friday, June 14, 2019. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Hazel (Kelly) Cochrane.

Iris was formerly employed with Sears in the Catalogue Dept. with over 15 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her younger years, Iris enjoyed playing cards, bowling, cleaning, volunteering with the Alzheimer Society and taking numerous rides looking for deer and enjoying nature.

Iris will be sadly missed by her sons, William “Bill” Banks (Ruth) and James “Jim” Banks (Linda); cherished grandsons, Justin Banks (Haley McAlpine) and Ryan Banks (Kelly O’Driscoll; great-grandchildren, Alice and Oren Banks; nephew, Dennis Cochrane.

In addition to her parents, Iris was predeceased by her husband, Harry Banks (1999); grandson, William James “Jamie” Banks; brother, Hervey Cochrane (late Helen); sister, Norma Lees; sisters-in-law, Marion Doucette (late Leonard) and Betty LeBlanc (late Ulysse).

The family would like to thank Dr. Munroe and the entire staff of The Moncton Hospital (5200) and the team from The Briarlea for the love and care given to Iris during her time there.

Private Family Graveside Service to be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements under the professional care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).

Donations in Iris’s name can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick. Online condolences can be made on the funeral home Facebook page or at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
