Obituary for Joseph Rinzler

Joseph Rinzler of Riverview, NB passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2019. He was born in Saskatchewan on August 30, 1924, the first of four sons of the late Max and Fannie Rinzler. He moved to NB at age 15 where he lived his life. At 18, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served during WWII.

He was a hard working entrepreneur who, with his brothers, built Hub Meat Packers into a regional powerhouse of food processing, employing over a thousand people. If you encountered any livestock people in eastern Canada and all parts betwixt and between there was a pretty good chance that they knew Joe. You would also be sure that not an unkind word would be said.

He had a kind heart and huge personality - perhaps the largest of the four brothers. In all likelihood he thought of himself as a comic extraordinaire. He loved to laugh along with his own jokes as he blurted out the punchline at the beginning of the joke.

Joe is mourned by Ruby, his beloved wife of 56 years, his three brothers, Gordon (late Gayle), Harold (Roxie) and David (Carole). He was a beloved father to Heather Rinzler- Snitman, Patricia LeBlanc, Valorie Jones and the late Michael Leger, grandfather, uncle and was well loved by his extended family, as well as the thousands touched by his generosity throughout his well-lived life.

Funeral Service was held at Tiferes Israel Synagogue, 56 Steadman St., Moncton, on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Interment was held at Tiferes Israel Cemetery, Dieppe following the service. Arrangements under the professional care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).
