Obituary for Felix Matthew McLean

Felix “The Kat” Matthew McLean, 80, of Dieppe, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. Born in Stephenville, NL, he was the son of the late Harold and Mary (Gallant).

Felix retired from the Canada Revenue Agency where he worked as a Tax Auditor for a number of years and formerly worked with Apex Kenworth and the Bank of Montreal. He enjoyed rug hooking, crossword puzzles, playing pool, poker and cards – both in person and online – and a good chat with his buddies. In his younger years, he was a boxer, a track star and played softball and baseball.

Felix will be lovingly remembered and missed by his five daughters, Maryanne Wright (Dana) of Stoney Creek, Maureen Gillis (Bruce) of Kingston, NS, Eileen Walsh (Darren) of North Wiltshire, PE, Patti–Lynn Lebans–Goguen (Daniel) of Shediac, Sheila McLean (Brett MacDougall) of Halifax, NS and one son, Daniel (Lisa) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Robert, Tamara, Matthew, Alicia, Caleb, Joceline, Jérémie, and Jena; great grandchildren, Zakk, Cleo, Leah, and Cameron; sister, Cecilia Oickle (Mel) of Ottawa, ON; brothers, Ronald (Jan) of St. John’s, NL, Harold (Lisa) of Margaree, NS and Austin, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and his special friends, Alex Melanson, Nellie Newcombe and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joanne (Murphy) McLean (2006) and infant brother.

A graveside service will be held at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm, followed immediately by a gathering to celebrate and share memories of Felix at The Moncton Dart Club.

Arrangements entrusted to Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995).

In memory of Felix, donations to a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Online condolences for the family may be shared on the Fergusons Funeral Home Facebook page or at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
