Obituary for Sibylla Marina Dickson

It is with sadness that her husband Vaughan, and her son Mark, announce that Sibylla Marina Dickson passed away July 10, 2019, at Fredericton Hospice, after living for five years with cancer, which she endured with strength and grace.

Sibylla was born in Germany to the late Michael and Irma Sturm and grew up with her brother, Thomas, in Bavaria before attending the University of Munich. She came to Canada in 1969 and taught at the Netherwood School before moving first to UNBSJ to teach in the German Department, and then to UNB Fredericton. She took early retirement in 1999.

Sibylla was a popular teacher at UNB and, in retirement, she greatly enjoyed painting, golf, family, and friends. Sibylla had a lively, irreverent personality and a remarkable capacity for friendship.

She will be missed by her friends in Saint John, and her golfing friends and many others in Fredericton, Ontario, and British Columbia.

Her family is grateful to the health care professionals who provided care, and to her friends who provided support.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House or a charity of choice. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
