Obituary for Lloyd McNair

Lloyd McNair resident of McNair Manor, Moncton, formerly resident of Bath, New Brunswick passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the age of 103.

Lloyd was born in Nash Creek, New Brunswick on September 11, 1915, the son of Irvin and Mary McNair. He is survived by his loving wife of 76 years, Pearl. Lloyd and Pearl had four sons and one daughter, James (Shirley) of Ridgeway, Ontario, Allan (Margaret) of Sussex, David (Susan) of Moncton, Charles (Melody) of Bath, Miriam (Tony) of West Vancouver. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty–six great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

He was predeceased by sisters, Lois and Frieda. Lloyd is fondly remembered by his family as an awesome Dad and loving grandfather, whose life was a wonderful example for all of us.

Lloyd attended McDonald College in Montreal as a young man and then entered a long career with Agriculture Canada and later the New Brunswick Department of Agriculture. He gained great satisfaction from his work and hobbies and valued the many friends he made over the years.

In his advanced years, he enjoyed nothing more than a drive through the hills and farm country of Carleton and Victoria counties telling of his adventures as a potato inspector in those areas. He also enjoyed wood working, gardening and good conversation with friends and family. Lloyd appreciated very much the caring staff at McNair Manor.

Lloyd and Pearl were always actively involved in their churches, Bath United Baptist and Perth–Andover United Baptist when they lived in those communities. He will be remembered in the community as a quiet, generous, hard–working man who was always ready with a helping hand. A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the professional care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995).

Gifts in memory of Lloyd may be made to Bath United Baptist Memorial Fund, Shiktehawk Bible Camp or the charity of your choice. Online condolences for the family may be shared on Fergusons Funeral Home Facebook page or at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
