Obituary for Gordon Fawcett

Gordon Fawcett, of Moncton, NB, age 87, died peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2019 in The Moncton Hospital. Born and raised in Killams Mills, NB, he was the son of the late Arthur and Matilda (nee Carson) Fawcett.

Gordon graduated from Petitcodiac High School. He retired from a lengthy career in the insurance industry, including nearly 30 happy years spent with The Cooperators in Moncton. For more than 60 years Gordon was an active member of Highfield Baptist Church where he served on many boards and committees. He enjoyed singing in choirs and quartets, going out to eat with friends, and travel – especially the nearly 20 winters spent with his wife in Florida during their retirement years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Fawcett, and their two sons: Dr. Bruce (Penny) Fawcett of Moncton and Commander (USCG) Paul (Holly) Fawcett of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also leaves four grandchildren: Daniel, Lilly, Em, and Grace.

He was predeceased by his brother Roy and sister–in–law, Melba, of Petitcodiac.

Visitation will take place at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995) from 6:30 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday and a memorial service will be held at Highfield Baptist Church, 290 St. George St., Moncton on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11:00 am. Reception following the service. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorial gifts in his memory to Highfield Baptist Church and Crandall University would be welcomed. Online condolences for the family may be shared on Fergusons Funeral Home Facebook page or at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
