Obituary for Bertha Reid

Bertha B. Reid, 97, of the Westford Nursing Home, and formerly of Peoples Park Tower and Sunny Brae, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, July 19, 2019. Born in Chatham, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (MacDonald) Johnston.

Bertha worked with the Bank of Montreal during the war, and then stayed home as a homemaker and cared for her family. She was a member of Visions United Church.

Bertha will be sadly missed by her daughter, Diane Donovan; her son, John Reid (Susan); precious grandchildren, George Donovan (Leanne O’Toole), Cheryl Allen (Steve), and Lisa Kittmer (Mike); great grandchildren, Jacklyn, Natalie, Esme, Chloe and Stephanie.

Bertha was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Reid (1990); and son in law, Charles Donovan.

In keeping with Bertha’s wishes there will be no visitation hours or funeral service. A private family graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995) in care of arrangements.

In memory of Bertha, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Visions United Church, Westford Nursing Home Foundation Inc Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
