Obituary for Walter Jones

The death of Walter Edward Jones, husband of the late Dorothy P. (Brown) Jones, occurred on July 20, 2019, at his residence, the Admiral Long Term Care Centre, Dartmouth, NS. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Arthur Reginald and Muriel (Code) Jones.

He was a graduate of UNB and had a varied career retiring from the Halifax Transit Commission in 1992. He and Dorothy had a great passion for gardening and they were well know for their Dahlias and Gladiolus. They were active members of the Dahlias Society always having numerous exhibition submissions. They loved dogs and were the owners of the Onabrook Kennels were they bred miniature poodles and pomeranians. During their lives he and Dorothy traveled extensively to Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany and Italy. They enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years.

He is survived by his brother Dr. Robert Jones and his wife Beth of British Columbia along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents he is predeceased by his brother Arthur Jones and his sister Carol Leather.

Following cremation the family will receive relatives and friends at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646–2424), on Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 am at which time the funeral service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.

Remembrances made to the Parkinson's Society or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
