Obituary for Lily Daigle

1927 - 2019

KOUCHIBOUGUAC, NB – Lily Daigle 92, of Kouchibouguac passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Born in Richibucto, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Stimson and the late Agnes Jardine Orr.

Lily graduated from Richibucto Grammar School, attended Success Business College in Moncton and returned to Richibucto and worked for S. L. Gregory Ltd., A. R. Loggie Co. Ltd., and NB Tel. She moved to Moncton in 1949 and retired from Maritime Hospital Service Association (Blue Cross of Atlantic Canada) after 33 years of service. She was one of the organizers of the Kouchibouguac Senior Citizen’s Club in 1990 and served as treasurer and president. She was a former member of the C.W.L. and a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed square dancing, fishing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, puzzles, bowling (winning a gold medal at the Senior Friendships Games in Dieppe in 2005). She had a great sense of humor.

Lily will be sadly missed by her nephew, Arthur Cormier (Iona) of Jardineville; four nieces, Patricia McCulley (Brian) of MB, Wendy Clibbett of BC, Marilyn Beauchesne (Robert) of BC, Fay Kierstead (Brent) of Moncton; several cousins; six Godchildren, Claire Comeau, David Uringer, Dawn Girvan, Donna Cormier, Julie Daigle, Myléne Comeau and her many friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Leo Daigle (July 2, 2019); two sisters, Theresa, Rosetta and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

At Lily’s request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 11:00 am, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Rexton. Family would like to wish a sincere thank you to the staff at the Stella Maris Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of Lily. Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
