Obituary for David Paul Nevers

It is with sadness that the family of David Paul Nevers announces his death at home on July 27, 2019 at the age of 67. Born in Fredericton, NB, on October 30, 1951, he was the son of Shirley (Osborne) and the late Donald Nevers.

In addition to his mother, Shirley, David leaves behind his brothers, Eric (Sharon) and Peter Nevers; sisters, Wendy Weeks, Laurey Chandia, and Nancy Nevers–Allen; nephews and nieces, Jason (Joanna), Julian, Joshua, Jennifer (Ryan), Jeffrey, Mumbi, Mwaba, Mwape, Charles (Ashley), Rory, and Nicoli; special cousins, Stephen, Jeffrey, and Michael; seven great nieces and nephews; beloved cats, Felix, Bud, and Radar.

David was predeceased by his father, Donald Nevers; maternal grandparents, Sara Wilson and Frank Osborne; step–grandfather, Frank Wilson; paternal grandparents, Main and Elsie Nevers; brother–in–law, Flinto Chandia.

After graduating from Harvey High School, David enlisted in the military and served with the Canadian Armed Forces for several years. Following this, he completed his welding training with the New Brunswick Community College and entered his career with Carson’s Trucking in St. Stephen, NB.

David had a great love of animals and nature from the day he was born. He cared for many of natures allies from his cats and dogs to saving two eagles, from his osprey he taught to fly so it could join its family again, to his pet squirrels Ashley and Nipper (only to name a few) to his pine trees which he called his babies. The Saint John River was part of David's soul, winter and summer. As an avid motorcycle rider, he would enjoy many long hours on his bike. He loved to read his books, especially on airplanes and boats. One of his favourite pastimes when he was a boy was throwing crabapples at his brother Peter, or anyone else that got in the way. While waiting for the school bus, he was knows to throw rocks at the guardrail with incredible accuracy. He was a prankster and loved to play jokes and tease his brothers and sisters.

David had a special bond with his mother, family and friends. They take some comfort in knowing he is now with his 18 year old cat, Maggie, whom he loved dearly.

There will be no visitation. The family welcomes everyone to a graveside service being held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 11:30 am in Kingsclear Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Peter Valji will officiate. For those who wish, donations in David's memory can be made to Ca–R–ma Fredericton. Online condolences can be made at www.mcadamsfh.com.
