Obituary for Ward Willis White

With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Ward Willis White of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Della (Hagerman) White, which occurred on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 2, 1923 in Burtts Corner, NB, Ward was the son of the late Sterling and Martha (Jones) White. He was a member of the Staples Settlement Baptist Church.

Ward was a great “handyman” and before a long retirement, worked in carpenter maintenance at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, after many years at S.M. White Woodworking Ltd., logging and other previous jobs. He worked hard in order to enjoy many years of camping, hunting and fishing with family and many friends. Square dancing, bowling, shuffleboard, and many other activities kept Ward and his late wife Della, active for many years.

Ward is survived by his children, Nancy MacFarlane of Burtts Corner, NB, Lawrence (Joyce) of Burtts Corner, NB, Sheryl Edwards (Barry) of Oromocto, NB, Kelly White of Fredericton, NB and Karen Clark (Alan) of New Maryland, NB, Garth of Fredericton, NB; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister, Priscilla Price of Burtts Corner, NB; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his two sons, Dale and Danny; sister, Kathleen Edmondson and brother, Boone White.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 1 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Staples Settlement Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Staples Settlement Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
