Obituary for Susan Fortune

1939 – 2019
Bathurst – Mrs. Susan Fortune, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Foyer Notre Dame–de–Lourdes, Bathurst at the age of 80.Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Chiasson) Hebert.

She is survived by her common–law spouse, Loftus Benjamin and three sons: Andrew, Terry and Rob all of Bathurst. Four grandchildren: Mitchell, Jonathan, Hannah and Samuel. One sister, Annette Noël (George) of Quebec City.Three brothers: Herman Hebert (Myrna) of Sault Saint Marie, Al Hebert (Angie) and Robert Hebert (Susan) both of Bathurst. Several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rendall a son Jason Fortune, a brother Eloi and a sister, Diane.

Sue lived a good and active life. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and also Loftus’ family and their children from Ottawa. She worked for NBTel for some 30 years and loved her job, she never knew what a blue Monday was. Susan was a member of the NBTel Pioneers. She was a member of the Holy Family CWL, Holy Family Choir, served Meals on Wheels for over 10 years and volunteered at the local Hospital. Sue and Loftus enjoyed travelling, visiting with family and friends abroad.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church.

Donations in memory of Susan may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
