Obituary for Donald Nixon

Donald H. Nixon, age 73, son of Robert and Lois (Burns) Nixon passed away peacefully at Hospice House, Fredericton, New Brunswick on August 12th, 2019 surrounded by the love of his family.

Don is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Gail (Semple) Nixon; children Suzanne Nixon of Brockville, ON, Beth Nixon of Prescott, ON, Jeff (Ruby) Nixon of Prescott, ON, David Smith (Tanya) of Saint John, NB, and Carey Smith MacDonald (Iain) of Toronto, ON; grandchildren Jordan Hendricks, Brianna Hendricks, Cameron Nixon, Benjamin Nixon, Mitchell Palmater, Jeremy Palmater, Kaleb Gray, Gabriel Smith, and Jadon Gray; sister Karen Barnhardt of Brockville, ON and brother Larry Nixon of Vancouver, BC.

Predeceased by his mother, father and brother Ralph.

Born and raised in Brockville, ON, Don enjoyed years of powerboat racing and life on the St. Lawrence River. After moving to Fredericton, he continued his love of the water and enjoyed numerous years of camping, boating and the outdoor life. A die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf and UNB Reds Hockey fan, Don was happily retired from Fredericton Transit.

Don fought a gallant and courageous battle with the rare disease Multiple System Atrophy. Special thanks to the many friends who have supported Don and Marilyn through this journey and a heartfelt thank you to Hospice House and its wonderful staff who helped make the end of this journey easier to bear.

As per Don’s request, no visitation or formal funeral will be held. A family gathering is planned.

Memorial tributes in Don’s honor may be made to Hospice House and online remembrances can be left at www.mcadamsfh.com.

Be kind always.
