Obituary for Victor Smith

It is with sadness the family of Victor Smith announce his passing which occurred peacefully on August 12, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax, NS on May 6, 1931 he was the son of the late George and Dorothy (Williams) Smith.

Vic served in the Royal Canadian Airforce for over 31 years and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63. Vic had a passion for bowling and was a member of a Seniors Bowling League on the west side. For many years he was the President of the Canadian Five Pin Bowlers Association, a member of St. Martins Seniors Club and was animal lover who would feed all animals and strays even raccoons. Vic was a fan of old country music, honey, rhubarb and a good game of crib.

Vic is survived by his wife of almost 54 years Velma Grace (Gullage) Smith; daughter Tani Rae Travis of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Timothy and Jennifer; sisters-in-law Tina Dodd (Albert) and Marilyn Worden (Larry); brother-in-law Fred Bradshaw; nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with his parents, Vic was predeceased by his sister and her husband Marion and Russell Hawkins, nephew Cole Hawkins; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday, August 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. with a tribute to a Veteran service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 16th at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment to be held at Bradshaw Burial Ground, Orange Hill, St. Martin’s.
