Obituary for Ronald Fineberg

It is with great sadness after a 3.5 year struggle with health issues that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Ronald S. Fineberg on August 21, 2019, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 23, 1950, in Montreal, Quebec, son of the late Dr. Irwin Fineberg and Charlotte (Namerow) Fineberg.

Ronald graduated in 1971 from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He went with on to study marine biology at Dalhousie University. He later graduated from McGill University, Faculty of Dentistry, the first “third generation graduate” from there; with his grandfather, Joseph Fineberg, and his father, Irwin Fineberg. Dr. Ron, as he was affectionately known by some, began his dental practice in 1978 at the Waterloo Street Medical Clinic Building. He practised dentistry for some 41 years, until he was forced to retire due to health issues that had plagued him for the past several years. His peers knew him as an accomplished dentist and all of his patients loved going to see him.

Ron led an active life. He raised African Cyclid fish. He loved hockey, welding, carpentry, scuba diving, boating, water skiing, snow skiing and fast cars.

Ron is survived by his brother Martin Fineberg (Stephanie) of Rothesay, his step mother Peggy Wilson of Quispamsis, nephew Nicholas Fineberg, niece Erin Fineberg, as well as several cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his partner, Heather Whitenect.

In keeping with Ron's wishes there will be no formal visitation. Funeral Service will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119)
on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place at Fernhill Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.kennebecasisfh.com
