Obituary for Frank Casey

It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Frank Joseph Casey announce his passing at the Veteran’s Health Unit on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the age of 85. Born on October 24, 1933 in Minto, NB, he spent his adult years raising his family on Coakley Hill in Minto, NB. Frank passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Frank leaves behind three children, Elizabeth Casey, Maria Casey (Peter Nutter), Lynn Casey, two sisters, Theresa Copeland (Hayward), Martha Vautour, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Frank was predeceased by his parents Onesime (James) and Leonie (Richard) Casey, two brothers, Gerald and George Casey, a sister, Judith Casey (Williams). Also predeceased by his infant son, John Casey, son Kim Casey, and son-in-law, Fred Heagney.

Frank was a loving father, uncle, brother and grandfather who will be missed by all who where lucky enough to know him. He spent his working years serving in the Military for 26 years, during that time he was stationed at many different bases including Shilo, Manitoba, then processing to Germany, and Winnipeg, Manitoba, later on retiring in Oromocto, NB. Frank moved back to his beloved Minto in 1970 to settle down; as an active Legion Member, Frank spent many of his days at the local branch playing more than his fair share of crib, pool, and any other card game he could sit in on.

Frank spent many of his days at his camp on the Tracy Road, he loved to spent his weekends there with his grandchildren and many friends, fishing, hunting and playing cards, most days you could find Frank sitting at the kitchen table on Coakley Hill, listening to country music, waving at the passer-byers, while reading his newspaper. Frank was well known and loved by many for his quick wit and lovable personality; he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from Minto Community Chapel. Interment will take place in Saint Bridget’s Cemetery, Hardwood Ridge, NB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chipman Elementary School Breakfast Program. www.hoggfunerals.ca
