Obituary for Leo-Paul Johnson

(1947-2019)
ST-IGNACE, NB – Leo-Paul Johnson 71, of St. Ignace passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Monday, August 26, 2019. Born in St. Ignace, he was the son of the late Narcisse Johnson and late Yvonnice (Allain) Johnson.

Before retiring, Leo-Paul was employed as a drywall finisher. In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball and was a great left handed pitcher.

Leo-Paul will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kathy Johnson (Denis) of Kouchibouguac; three grandchildren, Angèle (Micheal), Maxime, Jonathan and one great-granddaughter, Arianna. He is also survived by five sisters, Sr. Yvette Johnson of C.N.D, Montreal, Jeannette Johnson of St. Ignace, Yvonne Pellerin (Tony) of Bowmanville, ON, Roberte Guimond (Paul) of St. Louis, Jacinthe Johnson of St. Ignace; three brothers, Laurie Johnson, Donald Johnson (Camilla), Camille Johnson (Marielle) and Yvon Johnson all of St. Ignace and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Poirier (Arthur) of Saint John, Jacqueline Thebeau (Alphée) of St. Ignace and five brothers, Claude, Edgar, Bernard and infants Claude and Leo-Paul.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Friday from 7 to 9 pm, Saturday at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 am, St. Ignace de Loyola Roman Catholic Church.

Donations in Leo-Paul’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or ALS and would be appreciated by the family.

Special thanks go to the staff at the CHU Dumont Oncology Center, to the nursing staff of the Stella Maris Hospital and to the Extra Mural for the wonderful care given to Leo-Paul.
