Obituary for Terrence (Terry) Fennell

Terry Fennell passed away suddenly on September 4, 2019. A strong husband, proud father, and loving grandfather, he is survived by his wife Karen (née Eastwood), his children Chris (Kerim) and Kelly James (née Fennell), his treasured grandchildren Preston and Rocco, his loyal brothers Jim (Linda) and Billy (Linda), his close in–laws the Eastwood siblings and their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father James Edwin, his mother Marion Constance (née Quinn), and his brother Robert.

He proudly served the City of Saint John for 35 years, seven years as a police officer before transferring to the Fire Department as their first arson investigation officer within the Fire Prevention Division, eventually being promoted to Fire Captain of that division. He was a talented softball player, playing for many years on the legendary Senior Men Saint John Alpines team and had the honour of representing New Brunswick as a member of the provincial team many times. He was inducted into the New Brunswick Softball Hall of Fame twice, as a member of the 1970s Alpines team and then as an individual player. He passed his passion for sports on to his grandsons and was the biggest fan at all their games. Terry was a steadfast friend to many, a jokester with a nickname for everyone, and a man who always put family first.

Visitation will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646–2424) on Monday, September 9 from 2 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or a charity of your choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
