Obituary for Joan Meade

On Saturday, September 7, 2019 Joan Marie Meade, loving wife of Robert Meade, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Hospice House in Fredericton, NB. Born on February 18, 1940, she is the daughter and only child of Henri and Mary (Conlon) Fontaine.

Joan was an extremely talented story teller and artist who did beautiful work, painting in water colour and also in ink pen drawing. She taught art and was a Docent at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery for many years. Both she and Robert had a passion for drama and she was heavily involved in Characters Incorporated for some time. They also offered a summer theatre camp for young people called Summer House where they thoroughly enjoyed watching the children’s imaginations and creativity flourish.

Joan was a wonderful wife and mother. She was blessed with a gentle heart and was so very encouraging and loving. Joan was the kind of woman who was willing to help anyone in any way. You always knew where you stood with her and she made a difference in people’s lives. She will be forever remembered and loved by those she cared for.

Along with her husband Robert, Joan is survived by her sons Bill Meade (Tamara Crozier) of Fredericton and Mike Meade (Tammy Nichol) of Nackawic and her only grandson Benjamin.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, an informal gathering to celebrate her life will be held Friday, September 13 at 10 Hallett Heights, Douglas, NB. Please drop by anytime between 2 and 4pm.

For those who wish, donations in memory of Joan may be made to Hospice House or a charity of the donor’s choice. To place an online condolence please visit www.mcadamsfh.com
