Obituary for Donna Grant

Donna G. Grant of Woodstock, NB passed away August 17, 2019 at her home in Woodstock, NB. Donna was born in Porten, NB April 20, 1940 to Donald and Jennie (Porter) Wright.

She is survived by her husband Clint and daughter Laurie McHatten (Greg). Two granddaughters Christy Canam (Glazier) and Katie Daigle (Patrick). Three great grandchildren, Kyle, Anna, Britton. Donna was survived by sisters and brothers, Eleanor Johnson, Mary McBride (Richard), Lela Perkins, Gail Wright, Barb Ketch (James), Ken Wright (Rose), Bob Wright (Sandy), Don Wright (Mary).

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister Merle Wilson (Harry), sister–in–law Sharon Wright, brother–in–law Donald Perkins.

Donna taught school for close to 30 years at the elementary level in Woodstock before she retired. Many students over the years have asked how their favorite teacher was and asked to be remembered to her by her daughter. There wasn’t much Donna couldn’t do. She made many quilts over the years and passed on to various family members to enjoy. She was a seamstress making special dresses for Laurie at a young age, she was an avid bridge player, enjoyed and finished her morning crosswords but her passion was that of her family. Donna and Clint were devoted to each other. After retirement they enjoyed 25 years spending the winters in Florida. Many of their Florida friends have reached out to Clint to express their love and support to him when they heard of her passing. Clint and Donna went to Ohio and spent a wonderful week with Joe and Karen Henry. Joe was a great friend and part of their Florida family. Donna passed many life lessons and strength of character and love and confidence onto her daughter Laurie. Clint and Donna enjoyed many times with Laurie and her husband Greg. She thought the world of her son–in–law Greg who referred to her as ‘moms’. She adored her grandchildren Christy and Katie and was so proud of the women they had become. She held a very special place in her heart for her great grandchildren Kyle, Anna and Britton. She loved listening to their stories and spending time when they stopped in for a visit and would play the organ for them.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Clint, daughter Laurie and son–in–law Greg. Her grandchildren Christy (Glazier) and Katie (Patrick) and great grandchildren Kyle, Anna and Britton.

Visitation was from The Culberson Funeral Home on Monday, August 19, 2019. Funeral service for Donna Grant was held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Woodstock Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Woodcock and Rev. Leonard Cousins officiating. Private committal service and interment at the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.

Heartfelt thanks to Mary, Jennifer and Lori of Extra Mural for their wonderful care of Donna, Dr. Razi, Fredericton and to Dr. Wayne McLaughlin for his calls, care and support to Donna over many years. Also Joan Lockhart who has been a great friend and provided many kindnesses to Clint and Donna.
