Obituary for Avis Vail

1936 – 2019
Avis Ann Elaine (Treadwell) Vail passed away peacefully September 9, 2019 with family by her side at Carleton Manor Nursing Home in Woodstock, N.B. Avis was born in Brockway, York Co., N.B. August 28, 1936 to the late Henry and Emma (Messer) Treadwell.

Avis is survived by her sister Carol Waycott, St. Stephen, N.B. and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph Vail in May 2019. Avis was also predeceased by two sisters, Lois Brockway and Gloria Anderson.

Avis graduated from Lawrence Station High School and from the Victoria Public Hospital School of Nursing in Fredericton, N.B as a registered nurse. Avis and her late husband Ralph moved to Woodstock in 1961 where she nursed for a period of time then she joined her husband in his land surveying business as his draftsmen, drawing up his survey plans.

Avis and her husband Ralph were long time active members of Saint James united Church and she was also a member of Eastern Star Woodstock Chapter where they resided for 58 years.

The family would like to thank the staff and management at Riverside Court and the staff and management at Carleton Manor for their wonderful care and compassion for Avis in her final years.

At the request of the family there will be no Visitation. Interment will be in the Brockway Cemetery, Brockway, NB with a private family service.

Friends and family who wish may make donations to Saint James United Church, (address 120 Chapel Street, Woodstock, NB E7M 1H1) or the Order of Eastern Star, Woodstock (Victoria Chapter # 1 Order of the Eastern Star Mr. Doug Swan, 169 St. John St. Woodstock, NB E7M 2T9) or charity of their choice.
