Obituary for Mae Burtt

The passing of Mae Dorothy Burtt of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Lyle Burtt occurred on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 1, 1944 in Keswick, NB, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Dorothy (Dunphy) Williams.

Mae was a wonderful grandmother; she loved to bake, especially cookies for her grandchildren; she enjoyed camping, knitting and bowling. Mae worked at the Beaverbrook, Zellers and York Arena, where she was known as the “Canteen Lady”.

Mae is survived by her children, Craig (Krista) Burtt, Gary Burtt, Faye Downing (Tim), Dwayne (Marlayna) Burtt, all of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Brittany, Jonathan, Patrick, Jayden, Alexandrea, Braxton and Nova Mae; sister, Annabelle Biefer; brother, George Williams (Ruth); sister-in-law, Debbie Williams; several nieces and nephews; long time friends, Donna Ward and Carolyn Mills.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mae was predeceased by her sisters, Annie Yeo, Zella Haines and her brother, Norman Williams.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 12-2 pm; followed by a Graveside Service at Burtts Corner Community Cemetery with.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
