Obituary for Jill Smith

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Jill Smith who passed away on Saturday September 14, 2019 at The Moncton Hospital, surrounded by her family. Jill will be dearly missed by her loving husband Gary and her four children Kaileigh, Brandon, Morgan and Talia.

Born in Pointe Claire, Quebec, she was the youngest child of the late Tim and Ivy Kelly as well as a loving daughter–in–law of the late John and Margaret Smith.

Jill was the youngest of 7 children and will always be in the hearts of Brian (Lynne), Steve, Jeff (Lila Donovan), Brad (Lucero), Scott (Jamie Penfold) and Jan (Terry Koshylanyk).

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Kevin, Chris (Victoria), Autumn (Peter), Alison (Mark), Erin (Spencer), Ian (Holly), Tyler, Wesley, Stephen, Kieran (Emily), Ryan, Nick, Patrick, Regan and Jessica.

Jill was a passionate soccer mom who could often be heard singing Sweet Caroline on the sideline of many games. She and Gary were avid fans of the Moncton Wildcats and the Moncton Magic.

She created many happy memories in her lifetime that will live on in her children. We remember her as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, great–aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Everyone who knew her will miss her caring nature, quick whit and sense of humour.

The family would like to thank the medical and nursing teams of the Sheldon Rubin Oncology Clinic and Extramural program for giving Jill the gift of more time to spend with family and friends. Special thanks goes to Anne–Marie and the wonderful staff at the Palliative Care Unit at The Moncton Hospital who helped Jill enjoy her last months doing as many of the things she wanted to do before she was taken from us far too soon.

Resting at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869–2007) with visitation on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with parish prayers and sharing of memories to take place at 7:30pm. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday at 11:00am with Fr. Charles Broderick officiating at Cobb’s Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations to the hospice Southeast New Brunswick Celebration Campaign would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
