Obituary for Leona Duguay

May 20, 1933 – September 8, 2019
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Leona Duguay (nee Pitre) – beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great–grandmother and great–great–grandmother. Surrounded by her loving family, Leona went home on September 8, 2019.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lucien Duguay and seven children – Diane, Jackie, Denise (Doug), Lorraine (Bob), Monica (Todd), Mike (Tammy), and Claudelle (Robert) as well as 18 grandchildren, 13 great–grandchildren and two great–great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother – Leofred (Georgina) Pitre, sisters–in–law Erma (Bill) Pitre of Toronto, Lilliane (Gerald) Duguay, Delcina (Alvin) Duguay, Helen (Arnold) Duguay, Yvonne (Alyre) Duguay and Julie–Anne (Rodrigue) Duguay and brother–in–law Marc Duguay – all of Beresford, NB. She leaves behind many, many nieces and nephews.

Born in Beresford, New Brunswick, Leona was the daughter of the late Theodore and Hilda Pitre. She is predeceased by her siblings Ernest (Eva), Leonard (Adeline), Arthur (Irene), Gerard (Cecile), Edmond (Marjorie), Bill, Ida (Emery) and Lydia (Sonny).

She was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her and though she suffered in her final years with Alzheimers, she knew how much she was cherished. We will miss your laughter and unconditional love, your music, your homemade bread and butterscotch pies.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cambridge, ON.

In memory of Leona, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers. Online condolences can be made at www.corbettfuneralhome.ca
