Obituary for Joseph "Conrad" Sawyer

December 12, 1931 – Richibucto, New Brunswick
September 14, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Joseph "Conrad" Sawyer of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the age of 87 years.

Conrad was born on December 12, 1931 in Richibucto, NB and married his late wife Jean Beulah (Campbell) on October 31, 1954. At a young age Conrad served in the Korean War and then returned to New Brunswick and started work as a taxi driver and a barber, soon after was employed by the local liquor store. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1986 where he looked after a variety of apartment buildings and homes. As a youngster, he enjoyed playing hockey, fishing and then learned to play the accordion in his later years.

Conrad is survived by two daughters, Lola Loyd of Blanco, TX and Michelle Pilon of Calgary, AB; four sons, Hugh Paul (Jeannie) Sawyer of Browns Yard, NB, Kelvin Drew (Karen) Sawyer of Rexton, NB, Darin Conrad (Linda) Sawyer of Ste. Anne, NB and Joel Peter (Cory) Sawyer of Calgary, AB. He also survived his sisters, Yvonne Mclean of Lindsay, ON and Rita Joudrey of Berwick, NS; as well as eleven grandchildren, seven great–grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Conrad was predeceased by his loving wife Jean; his parents, Aurell Sawyer and Evelyn Allain; brothers, Lionel and Richard; sisters, Anita Sawyer and Alice Morris of Moncton, NB; brothers–in–law, Star Joudrey of Berwick, NS and Tom of Lindsay, ON; sons–in–law, Gerry Pilon of Calgary, AB and Bry Loyd of Blanco, TX.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

A Private Service for his family will be held. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

A special thank you to the staff of Swan Evergreen Village for taking such good care of Conrad during his time there.
