Obituary for Hazel Bucci

Following a brief illness, Hazel Geraldine Bucci of Plaster Rock, NB, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019 at the Tobique Valley Manor. Hazel was born in Plaster Rock, NB, on March 13, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Crudence and Elsie (Baker) Schofield and was the last surviving member of the Schofield Family.

Hazel leaves behind her daughters, Karen Jenkins (Brian) of New Maryland, NB, Sandra Dow (John) of St. Stephen, NB, and Brenda Bucci of Plaster Rock, NB; her sons, Richard Bucci (Shawn) of Riley Brook, NB, John Bucci (Kelly) of Plaster Rock, NB, and Paul Bucci (Sherry) of Brownville Junction, ME. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gerald Bucci; her sisters, Mary Lavenia Bucci (at birth), Helen Mae Roberts, and Elsie Burridge; her brothers, Ed, Bill, and Wallace Schofield.

In her early years, Hazel was employed at Herb Green's Store in Plaster Rock. She was also a homemaker for many years as she raised her six kids. She was an avid member of St. Andrew's United Church, the church choir, the UCW and the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Hazel and her husband, Gerald, spent many hours together traveling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and canoeing.

Many thanks from the family to the staff of Tobique Valley Manor. Their kindness and compassion will always be remembered.

There will be a private family burial on September 28, 2019 at the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery. Following the burial, a reception will be held at St. Andrew's United Church Hall at 1 pm for family and friends.

For those who wish, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #29, or to St. Andrew's United Church would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover, NB.
