Obituary for Roberta MacKay

The passing of Roberta Isabel “Snookie” MacKay of Hayesville, NB, beloved wife of Wesley MacKay occurred on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Oromocto PublicHospital, Oromocto, NB. Born on August 13, 1931 in Hayesville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sarah (Palmer) Munn.

In her earlier years, Roberta loved to fish from her husband’s pond and travel through nature gathering wild fruit, nuts and fiddleheads. She also loved to work tirelessly in her husband’s vegetable garden. It has been said that her homemade soup was second to none.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Roger MacKay of Hayesville, NB, Steven MacKay (Colleen) of Parker’s Ridge, NB; daughter, Norma Shannon (Everett) of Astle, NB; son in law, Kevin Betts (Becky); 7 grandchildren, Dean, Teri, Scott, Kelsey, Andrew, Tina, Kenny; twelve great grandchildren, Jordan, Lexie, Grace, Dylan, Cohan, Evelyn, Ainsley, Levi, Caroline, Anna, Naomi, Braxton; sister, Edith Munn of Bloomfield Ridge, NB; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn; brother, Frederick Munn; and sister, Pearl Arsenault.

Visitation took place at the Miramichi Valley Chapel, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Service was held at the Miramichi Valley Chapel on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Roger Mitchell officiating and Pastor Rick Bruce assisting. Interment was in Parker’s Ridge Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Carroll’s Crossing Baptist Church or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.miramichivalleyfh.com
