Obituary for Olive MacNeill

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olive Louise (Ferrish) MacNeill on September 21, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born in Summerside, PE on December 9, 1936 to the late Robert and Bertha (Davison) Ferrish.

Olive worked as a Registered Nurses Assistant at the DVA Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital throughout the years before joining the team at Dr. Breen’s office, which is where she retired from. Olive not only worked as a nurse, but she lived as a nurse. Every one of her neighbours and her friends and family always looked to her for medical advice or assistance, or she could be relied on to be the one bringing you soup or a treat to try to help you through. She was a genuinely caring and kind person. Olive was a jokester who loved a good laugh. She loved music and loved to dance. She was just a one of a kind lady, who liked to have fun and who, in her quiet way, was funny. She was very family oriented and immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. Her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren knew no bounds. She was taken far too soon, and she will be sadly missed.

She will be fondly remembered by her children, Allan (Karen), Caroll Anne (Dave), Carla (Roger), Fred (Taryn), and Donna (Larry); her grandchildren, Allan (Laura), Daniel, Heather (Travis), Jaden, Charlee, Sally and Molly; great-grandson Conner; her siblings, Phyllis (Lawrence), Lila, Emmerson (Jeanette), Audrey (Peter), and Clarence (Joyce); god children Janet Gardner and Andy MacNeill; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and her special kitty.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her former spouse, Joseph MacNeill and brother-in-law Larry Lauzon.

Olive’s family would like to send a special thank you to Marlene and Dave for the prayers they shared with her nightly, and especially to Linda Richard, mom’s angel, whose care kept her at home and healthy for the last five years. Your compassion and friendship to her will never be forgotten by us.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10am to 12:30pm with a funeral service to follow at 1pm in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.

For those who wish, memorial donations made in Olive’s name to the SPCA- Animal Rescue League, the Diabetes Foundation of Canada or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family. To express online thoughts and condolences, please visit at www.fundyfuneralhome.com
