Obituary for Gary Steeves

We Celebrate a life well lived. Gary Frederick Steeves left us on August 14th, 2019. His absence has left a huge void in our lives, but the memories we made will never go away. Gary was 75 years old, born in Midway NB, the second son of Ernest and Myrtle (Crawford) Steeves formerly of Hopewell Cape.

After graduating from Hillsborough High School in 1961 he went to work for the Bank of Nova Scotia then moved on to enjoy a lengthy career (and the camaraderie of his many co-workers) in Credit Management, first with the T. Eaton Company until 1975 and then with Co-op Atlantic until his retirement. Throughout his career Gary was also very involved with the Credit Institute of Canada, receiving many awards recognizing him for his work in promoting credit management education. He also gave generously of his time volunteering on various Credit Union Boards.

Gary will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, practical jokes, kind heart and generous nature. We are all the better for having had him in our lives.

Gary is deeply missed by his wife of 46 years Sharron (Munson), their two children Matthew ( Nell Chitty) and Sarah. His cherished memories will also be shared with the most recent member of the family, his infant grandson Thomas Steeves. Also grieving his absence are his many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his older brother Richard and both his parents.

A very special thank you to family, friends, the amazing first responders, volunteers of the Alma and Riverside Albert Fire Departments and the Tri County Ground Search and Rescue who assisted on August 14. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.

The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Gary to attend a celebration of his life on Monday October 14 at the Albert County Funeral Home, Hopewell Cape beginning with a service at 1:00 PM followed by a time of visitation with the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Waterside Cemetery or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H 3K2 734-2780 www.albertcountyfh.com
