Obituary for Harold Arnold Hewitt

It is with sadness that the family of Harold Arnold Hewitt announce his passing on October 8, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Harold Alton and Evelyn Irene (Young) Hewitt.

Arnold loved hunting, fishing, traveling and attending Blue Grass concerts with his wife Gayle. Between Arnold and Gayle, they hardly ever missed watching any NASCAR races, even if it was racers who were not their favourite. A lot of time was spent together out at their cottage in Lake George, some of that time spent relaxing and watching the loons float by. He also spent a lot of time with his beloved cat, Pepper. Arnold was retired military, who served loyally for 20 years. Along with being a hard working man, a loving family member, Arnold was a proud legion member.

Survived by his loving wife, Gayle Norma (Morgan) Hewitt; children, Danny Hewitt (Beth), Katherine Stauffer (Alvin) and Tanya Hewitt (Scott); stepchildren, Dayle Peterson (Rick) and Ginette Decker (John); several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda Porter (Wayne) and Darrell Hewitt (Alberta); fur child, Pepper; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the Doctors and Nurses who provided such wonderful care to Arnold during his time in Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton and Halifax.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Nasonworth Baptist Church from 4 to 7 pm with a Legion tribute being held following the visitation at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at Nasonworth Baptist Church on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2 pm with Pastor David Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the adjacent cemetery.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Nasonworth Baptist Church or Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left at www.oromoctofh.com
