Obituary for Ruth Ogden

The death of Ruth Isabelle Ogden, 93, occurred at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Good) Dodge.

Ruth is survived by sons Robert (Bob) Ogden (Sandra) of Coldbrook, NS, Michael of Moncton, and daughter Karen Pond (Doug), of Moncton, grandchildren Jennifer Ayer of Sackville, NB, Christopher Mitton (Natasha) of Moncton, Andrew Mitton (Emily Haynes) of Halifax, Jeffrey Ogden (Heather), of Calgary, Shelley Ogden (Dave Bezansen) of Waterville, NS and Tim Ogden (Fiona) of Coldbrook, NS, great–grandchildren Sebastian, Thomas and Julian Kelly Ayer, Cooper Mitton, Joshua and Ava Campbell, Ella and Lily Haynes, Cassandra and Robert Ogden, Grace and Bridgett Carty, Nolan and Logan Ogden. She is also survived by brother Gilbert Dodge (Anne) of Montreal and sister Nancy Janes (late Joe) of Moncton. Also by step grandchildren Angela Pond (Miek Gall), Fredericton, Jody Pond (Manny Peralta), Harlingen, Texas and Amanda MacNeil (Chad) of Dieppe, step great-grandchildren Marley Pond, Brandon and Lauren Briones, Ethan and Tyler MacNeil.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cedric (Ted) Ogden.

Ruth was a member of St. John The Baptist Church, Riverview and previously of St. George’s Anglican Church, Moncton. She was active in many capacities of both churches. Her working life was dedicated to special needs children as Administrator of the former Lion Don Steeves School in Moncton, later she joined the staff of Moncton School District #15, continuing her work in Special Education until retirement in 1991.

Ruth’s greatest enjoyment was spending summers at her beloved cottage in Pointe du Chene, where family and friends enjoyed many happy times. She enjoyed knitting and needle work and was active in curling and bowling.A very kind, generous and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening, October 19th from 6:00 to 9:00 at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858–1995). A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 20th at 2 o’clock at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, with The Venerable Brent Ham officiating. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
