Obituary for Beverley McKay

It is with great sadness the family of Beverley Wain McKay of Chipman, NB announce his passing at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the age of 81. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 18, 1938 in Lower Hainesville, NB; son of the late Chauncey and Velma (Jones) McKay.

Bev spent 33 years of his life working for Bonar Packaging. After retirement, he enjoyed his summers as a seasonal camper at Grand Lake Park and at the lakefront property at Cumberland Bay. Bev liked to hunt and fish and loved barbequing for the many get-togethers of family and friends.

Bev (or Buddy as his family affectionately called him) is survived by his loving wife, partner and best friend, Sharlene Jones of Chipman, NB; sons, Rodney (Deanna) of Hamilton, ON and Derrick (Gladys) of Marysville, NB; brothers, Garnet (Dianne) of Oromocto, NB and Justus (Ivy) of Bedell, NB; grandchildren, Victoria, Erica, Joshua, Jarrett and Kendra; along with several great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Bev was predeceased by his brother Bernard; and the mother of his children, Marilyn (Stafford) McKay (2019).

Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. At Bev’s request, there will be no Funeral Service. Private interment will take place in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB at a later date.

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
