Obituary for Dorothy Gallant

December 18, 1929 – October 22, 2019
Our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on the morning of October 22, 2019 at the Moncton Hospital, with some of her family by her side. Dorothy Frances (Giberson) Gallant was born December 18, 1929 in Moncton to Samuel and Ethel (Everett) Giberson.

She is survived by her seven children: Bruce (Suzanne) of Eckville, AB; Giselle Jackson (Barry) of Abbotsford, BC; Rhea MacDonald (David) of Winnipeg, MB; Morgan Fisher (Lorne Gait) of Ladysmith, BC; Patti Lewis (Daniel) of Moose Jaw, SK; Leo (Kim) of Greer, SC; Robert (Shonda) of Moncton, NB; 19 grandchildren and their spouses; 16 great-grandchildren; cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Leo J.J. Gallant, her parents; one granddaughter, her two brothers Larry Giberson; Bruce (Gordena) Giberson and her sister Lois Tooke.

Throughout our family years, Mom happily moved all over our great country and to Germany wherever Dad’s twenty-five years of Army postings took us. She cared for her seven children tirelessly, all on a very tight budget. She loved a good road trip and traveled this continent regularly with Dad to visit her family. After raising her family, she was able to take up quilting and produced some beautiful hand-quilted gifts for her family and many others.

We will miss our mother dearly and are grateful for the many happy memories we share.

Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, October 25th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and Saturday, October 26th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Dorothy will be held at the chapel of Fair Haven at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 26 followed by a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road Moncton, NB E1E 3V9 (506) 852-3530. An online book of condolences maybe signed at www.fairhavenmemorial.ca.
