Obituary for Laurie Waugh

Laurie (David Lawrence) Waugh, born August 16th, 1948 in Stanley, NB died peacefully surrounded by family, holding the hand of the love of his life on October 26th, 2019 at his home in Quispamsis, NB.

Laurie is survived by his high school sweet–heart, best friend and wife of 51 years Betty–Anne (Clowater); children Tim (Kristine), Rob (Tina) and Andrea; grandchildren Brittany, Gaige, Brianna, Haley and Lauren; sisters Shirley Dunphy and Mavis Hallett; brothers Bill, Wayne (Ruby), Lynn (Kay), Harold (Valerie) and James (Linda) and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Maude (Gullison) Waugh; brothers–in–law Gerald Dunphy and Kenneth Hallett and sisters–in–law Judy and Maureen.

Laurie came from a big, rowdy family where there was always laughter and love. His pride and joy was his children and grandchildren and was happiest when he was surrounded by his family. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to spend time in the woods, hunting and fishing the Miramichi. He was known for his sense of humour and his ability to “tell it like it is”. Anyone who came through the door would be well fed and challenged to a game of crib. His reputation for his work ethic and expertise as a Road Builder was earned through the 46 years he worked throughout the Atlantic Provinces and he passed that strong ethic on to his children.

Visitation will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849–2119) on Wednesday, October 30th from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm until 8pm. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 2 Hammond River Road, Quispamsis, NB on Thursday, October 31st at 11am followed by a reception at the church hall.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hollway, Dr. Ackerman, Dr. Groom, Dr. Campbell, the Staff of the Oncology Department and Extra Mural.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the SPCA in memory of his boy, Achoo. Online condolences may be placed at www.KennebecasisFH.com.
