Obituary for Harry Pridham

Harry Charles Pridham, 96, Truro. The family of Harry are saddened to announce his peaceful passing at home with loved ones by his side on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Dad was born on March 13, 1923 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the son of the late Frank and Isa (Whitehead) Pridham.

He will be missed by daughter, Ann Hudson (Rick); son, Robert (Nadine); grandchildren, Ashley, Chad, Mitch, Carmen, Daniel and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Haidyn, Jonah, Jayden, Taylor, Brooklyn, Amy and Roy and Susie Reeves.

Dad served in the Canadian Army from 1942 to 1946 in Canada, England, France, Belgium and Holland as an x-ray technician for the 12th Canadian General Hospital. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26, Truro. After the war, he started working as a photographer with his father at Harvey Studios in Fredericton, St. Stephen, Saint John and Woodstock, N.B. In 1963, he moved to Truro where he opened his first photographic studio, Pridham’s Studio. He then opened studios in Amherst, New Glasgow and Sackville, N.B. He also opened Colour Labs in the studios in Nova Scotia employing up to 30 people. He was a member of the Maritime Professional Photographers Association and won several trophies for his photographs. His main hobby was boating and he enjoyed many years cruising the St. John River, Grand Lake, N.B. and Sinclair’s Island, the East River, Pictou Harbour and touring around the Northumberland Strait on his boat visiting, among other places, Pictou Island and Charlottetown. He was active in the Rotary Clubs in Fredericton and Truro. He was also a member of the Board of Stewards with the First United Church. His love of music had him singing in the Fredericton Male Chorus and the Wilmot United Church choir. In Truro, he was a member of the First United Church choir.

Besides his parents, Dad was predeceased by his first wife, Katherine (Kap) and second wife, Colleen; sisters, Pauline, Doris, Marjorie and Dorean.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, N.S. A Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26 Tribute Service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service both held in St. James Presbyterian Church, 725 Prince St., Truro. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be at a later date in Fredericton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s memory may be made to the Prostate Cancer Canada / Atlantic Region, the Salvation Army, St. James Presbyterian Church or charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
