Obituary for Leona Legere

With great sadness the family of Leona Marie Legere announce her passing on Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Chalmers Hospital. She was born January 27, 1937 to the late Edith and Alyre Gallant.

Prior to her retirement she was an office worker at the Diplomat Motel, Sears and for the Province of New Brunswick. She was a talented quilter and homemaker. She enjoyed long drives with her husband Rene, doing puzzles of all types and watching General Hospital.

Leona is survived by her husband Rene Legere, sons: Gregory (Dinah Stocker), New Maryland, Wayne (Karen Rennie),Ottawa, and Alan (Fredericton); three grandchildren: Kevin Legere (Amanda Martin), Victoria, Justin and Kelsie Legere (Calgary); her prized great-granddaughter Juniper Legere in Victoria; special friend Pete Tucker; Sisters: Elda Longphee, Toronto, Stella Caissie, Toronto and Bertine Vieneau (Shediac); Aunt Edmee LeBlanc, Cap Pele; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law: Donny (Sue), Ivan (Sissy), Alfred (Ellen); Danny (Karen); sisters-in-law: Dianne Belanger, Doreen (Jerry) Comeau, Jeannette Scholten, Louise (Carson) Fletcher and Donna (Lloyd) Joslin.

Leona was predeceased by her parents, son Brian Legere; brothers-in law Eddy Longphee; Paul Caissie, Art Legere, Paul Belanger and Johnny Scholten.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 from 12 to 2 PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd, Fredericton followed by a celebration of life at 2 PM. A private family interment will be held in St Francis of Assisi Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke or the Charity of the donor’s choice.

A special thanks to Dr. Wiley and staff of 4SW; emergency at DECH and OPH; Ambulance NB; Oromocto and Gagetown Special Care Homes for their care.
