Obituary for G. Douglas Barclay

1932-2019
Douglas Barclay of Riverview passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, November 1, 2019. Born in Montreal, he was the son of the late Gordon and Fanny (McConnell) Barclay.

Doug had a long and enjoyable career in industrial sales. He was a genuine people person and made many friendships along the way. In his spare time, he was an avid reader and was happiest with a good mystery novel in hand while a cat or two snuggled beside him. He loved time spent with family and always had a story to share.

Cherished husband, he will be deeply missed by his wife and partner of 62 years, Thelma (Gulline) Barclay. Also mourning his loss are daughters Jane Pearce, Margery Nichol (Mike), Susan Gallant and Audrey Puro (Greg), daughter-in-law Jill Barclay, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Lorne, son Andrew, grandson Kyle, and sons-in-law Alun Pearce and Danny Gallant.

With respect for Doug’s wishes, following a private visitation, cremation will take place with the interment to be at Alderwood Cemetery. The arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007).

Donations to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.cobbsfuneral.ca
