Obituary for David McGill

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, David Kent McGill of Hartland, NB on November 3, 2019. Dad was born in Saint John, September 3, 1946 to the late Donald and Joyce (Walker) McGill. Dad graduated from Saint John High School in 1966. He wasn’t a man of many words, if any at all. He was an Accountant. We will keep this simple, in his honour.

Dad retired from Day and Ross in 2011 after 30 + years. And he was surprisingly social, for a time. President of the Lion’s Club, Organizer of the annual Terry Fox Run and then settling into daily routine at the Legion, where he was proud member.

He passed away with us, his children, by his side at the Upper Valley Regional Hospital. He leaves behind Joanna Beckett (Ben), Aaron McGill (Maja), his loving ex-wife Doreen McGill and 3 amazing Grandsons, Thomas and Aaron Beckett and Magnus McGill. A brother Michael (Jane) of Nuttby Mountain, NS and a sister Charlotte McGill (Chris) of Mahone Bay, NS. And very caring and supportive extended family. He is pre-deceased by his daughter Malinda, whom he will be interred with.

All are welcome to join us for a casual celebration of his life, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, 41 Orser Street Hartland on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 2-5 pm. We will have his table set.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory, to the River Valley Cancer Support Group or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24. Cheers.
Messages of condolence may be sent online to www.carletonfuneralhome.ca “Serving All Faiths & within the Means of All”
