Obituary for Christina MacFarlane

The passing of Christina Maudie MacFarlane, wife of the late George MacFarlane, occurred at the age of 91 on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Millville, NB on August 12, 1928, she was the eldest daughter of the late Ralph and Annie (Sansom) Hawkins.

Christina was a caring wife and mother. She always had a clean home, clothes fresh from the clothes line and fresh baked pies, cakes and cookies and great meals. She was a past member of St. Luke’s United Church, St. Luke’s UCW, Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch 80 a current member of Nashwaaksis United Church. She was an avid quilter, she and George enjoyed curling, square dancing, travelling and especially having their large family at home on the Nashwaak.

Christina is survived by her children, Linda (Thomas) Hill of Georgetown, ON, Betty MacDonald of Kingston, ON, Lloyd (Karen Bubar) of Fredericton, NB, Debra (Charles) Smith of Nashwaak Bridge, NB, Edith (Gordon Dittmer) MacFarlane of Nanaimo, BC and Edward (Patricia Hay) MacFarlane of Douglas, NB; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Yvonne (Milton) Good of Millville, NB and Leola Seveck of Temperance Vale, NB; sisters-in-law, Connie Hawkins, Ida (MacFarlane) Carson, Alice MacFarlane, Flossie MacFarlane and Lois Hawkins.

She was predeceased by her husband, George MacFarlane; brother, Robert Hawkins and sister, Hazel (Hawkins) Hollowell.

Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton, NB on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Nashwaaksis United Church on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11am with Rev. Nathan Wright officiating.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Nashwaak Bridge Community Cemetery or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
