Obituary for David White

With great sadness, the family of David Milburn White announce his passing on November 9th, 2019, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in 1938, son of the late Dr. George Milburn White and Blanche (Bissett) White of Saint John.

He is survived by his wife Myrna (Fulton); daughter Buffy Keillor (Stuart); siblings, George White (Jennifer) and Barbara Spence; step-mother, Maxine White McAllister; grandsons, Matthew and Jonathan Melanson; granddaughter Amber Giles; sister-in-law Anne Fulton, and an extended loving family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Wayne S. Fulton.

Dave spent 25 years as a broadcast journalist, primarily at CHSJ/MITV Television and Radio where as News Director he hosted daily Maritime television newscasts and a weekly news program, "Newscope". Dave and fellow broadcaster, Gary Murphy, co-hosted the Empty Stocking Fund broadcast and the IWK Hospital for Children fundraiser for many years. His broadcasting years were special to him and he was very proud of the professional work of the on-air and support teams at the station. Upon retirement, he launched a new adventure reflective of his love of spending time in New Brunswick's beautiful rural areas, forests and waterways. With a portable sawmill, he traveled to farms and small woodlots in King's and neighbouring counties sawing logs into lumber. He spoke often of the wonderful people he had the opportunity to meet during this time and formed lasting friendships with many of his customers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. Friends and neighbours are invited to visit with the family at the Lighthouse River Centre, Main Street, Hampton on Friday, November 15th from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. A private Christian burial service will take place at Grand Lake, Queen's County in the spring.

For those who wish to make a donation remembering Dave, the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue is suggested or a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
