Harold Atkinson, of Moncton, went to his eternal home, November 11, 2019 after a brief illness. Born in Fort Lawrence, Nova Scotia on September 23, 1927, he was the son of the late Leslie and Mabel (Chambers) Atkinson.

Harold worked for Barbour Foods and Thorne’s Hardware before retirement, and then drove a school bus and was a crossing guard for the City.

Harold loved to cut wood and enjoyed going to Hillside Baptist Church.

Harold was a founding member of the Hillside Baptist Church and attended the Lutes Mountain Baptist Church prior to that.

Harold will be missed by his family, sons, James (Oreila) and Peter (Wanda) and daughter, Ruth Parks (Neil). He has three grandchildren, Amber MacLellan (Andrew), Crystal Parker (Mike) and Ashley Britton. His six great-grandchildren, Lily, Rose, Holly and Anna and William and Grace; nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife, Joan (Alexander); older brother, Kenneth (Evelyn) and two sisters, Joan Trites (Carl) and Nancy MacKenzie (George).

Special thank you to the private sitters (Lori, Bev and Joyce) for all their loving care; the staff at K. E. Spencer Memorial Home (Deerwood Wing) and the staff of 6600 Wing of The Moncton Hospital, prior to going to Spencer’s.

Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to celebrate and honour Harold’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jerry Reddy officiating. Refreshments in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be in Highlandview Cemetery, Amherst, Nova Scotia.
