Obituary for Sherry Lynn Alders

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Sherry Lynn Alders at York Care Center in Fredericton, NB, on Friday, November 15, 2019. Sherry was born on August 20, 1948 in Kentville NS, to parents Spencer and Alice (Norman) Montgomery. She grew up between Kentville and Truro where she and her brothers could always be found with their racehorses at the track.

Sherry is survived by her son Geoff Alders (Christina) and grandchildren Cayden and Grady; daughter Christie Alders and grandson Tyler; daughter Kari Alders Carr (Jeff); her brothers, Peter (Debbie), and nephew Chad; John Montgomery and nephew Spencer; cousins Karen Montgomery and Margaret Langille, as well as the father of her children, Curry.

Sherry was a homemaker, she took great pride in raising her children and taking care of her family home. She loved animals of all kinds but had a special place in her heart for her fur grandbabies. Knitting, toll painting and Sunday drives with the British Car Club were some of her favorite pass times. She was a wonderful cook, her baked beans and homemade brown bread were second to none. Sherry loved running the roads and taking her children to riding competitions, curling bonspiels and hockey tournaments and then, her grandchildren, where she was their biggest fan.

There will be no visitation at Sherry’s request, however a memorial service will be held for family, staff and close friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 2:30 pm at the York Care Center. Interment will be held at Lakeville Cemetery in Billtown NS, at a later date.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at York Care Center for their loving care for Sherry over the past four years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the MS Society or the SPCA. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed through www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
