Obituary for David Ashworth

Following several years of health complications, David Guy Ashworth of Three Brooks, NB, passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital on November 16, 2019. David was born in Grand Falls, NB, on March 24, 1950. He was the son of the late Claude and Lillian (Corbin) Ashworth.

David leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Amber Ashworth (Morton); his daughters, Shannon Bolduc (François) of Fredericton, NB, Lindsay MacKenzie (Angus) of Quispamsis, NB; his son, Wyatt Ashworth (Kristin) of Fredericton, NB; his grandchildren, Emily and Ashley Bolduc, Merrick and Calder MacKenzie, and Lucas Ashworth; his special niece, Marnie Daigle of Wabush, Labrador; his in-laws, Winnifred Cameron of Fredericton, NB, Karen Morton (Gregg Peacock) of Mt. Uniacke, NS, Bonnie Morton of Fredericton, NB, Darlene Morton (Robert LaFrance) of Kincardine, NB; Allen Morton (Sandra) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Dale Morton (Carolyn) of Hammonds Plains, NS, Darwin Morton (Marie) of Spruce Grove, AB, Blair Morton of Kincardine, NB, Isabel Morton of Bath, NB.

David was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Donnie Ashworth; his sister, Leila Lewis; his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Kathleen Morton; his brothers-in-law, Winston Morton, Peter Lewis, and Charlie Cameron.

David worked as a truck driver prior to his retirement. He was actively involved with the World Pond Hockey Championship in Plaster Rock. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially snowmobiling. He was also a member of the Victoria County Snowmobile Club.

In June 2019, Dave received the Outstanding Citizen Award for Carleton-Victoria Counties for his volunteer work with the snowmobile club, his behind the scenes work with Pond Hockey yearly, and his volunteer plowing of the natural trail following each snowstorm.

Resting at the Tobique Chapel in Plaster Rock, NB, with visitation on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1 pm from the Tobique Chapel. Rev. Ellen Flemming officiating. Interment will follow in the Linton Corner Cemetery.

Dave's family would like to express sincere gratitude to the ambulance attendants, Dr. Bell and Dr. O'Hagan and all the staff on the medical floor at Hotel Dieu hospital. The professionalism, dedication, and compassion shown to the family was greatly appreciated and will always be remembered and cherished.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Kidney Foundation, the Canadian Liver Association, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Crohn's and Colitis Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, the NB Lung Association, or the DunRoamin Animal Shelter would be appreciated by the family.
