Obituary for Phyllis Cormier

The death of Phyllis Evelyn Cormier, 96, widow of the late George J. Cormier occurred on Friday, November 29, 2019, at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, NB. Born on August 23, 1923 in North Tay, NB, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Ethel (Tait) Ashfield.

Phyllis was a Registered Nurse, training at the Ottawa Civic Hospital (1941-1944). She worked in her profession at the St. John General Hospital, the Victoria Public Hospital, Fredericton and the Dr. George L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton. She moved with her husband and family from Fredericton to Moncton in 1955 and to Shediac in 1957, where they resided until 1998. Following the death of her husband, she has lived in Fredericton.

She is survived by her four children: Gerry (Kathy) of Tremont, NS, Robert (Annette) of Two-Mountains, QC, Jennifer (Marcel) of Cap-Pelé and Richard (Louise) of Bromont, QC; seven grandchildren: Todd Cormier, Krystal Cormier, Marc Cormier, Stephanie Dymond, Amy Dymond, Alexandre Cormier and Charles Cormier; seven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband George in 1998; a son, Christopher in 1977; four brothers: Willis, Garnet, James and Jack; three sisters: Florence Brewer, Maude Tupper and Grace Hughson.

The family of Phyllis Cormier would like to thank Pine Grove Nursing Home management and staff for the exemplary care provided to Mom while she was a resident.

The family will be receiving condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396, Main Street Shediac on Friday, December 6 from 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday, December 7 from 9 am until time of departure (10:15 am). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 11 Andrew Street, Pointe-du-Chêne, NB, on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:30 am. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment for family only at St-Joseph's Cemetery, Shediac.

In lieu of flowers donations in Phyllis’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of your choice.
