Obituary for Samuel Perkins

The death of Samuel "Sam" Junior Perkins of Florenceville occurred on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville, NB. Born November 11, 1930 in Gordonsville, NB he was the son of the late Samuel and Leila (Grant) Perkins.

He was also predeceased by his wife, Alevina; nine siblings, Kempton, Russell, Phillip, Millard, Norvel, Roberta, Marie, Bill and Lynwood.Sam was a loving father, grandfather, companion and friend.

He was the first President of the Rec Council for the Village Florenceville, a Town Councillor, Life Member of the Florenceville Legion, Elks Lodge and Masonic Lodge. He was a avid golfer and the curator of "Sam's Park". Sam was a recipient of the Family and Community Volunteer Award in 2007. He was a long time supporter of the Liberal Party. He enjoyed his past 30 winters in Swan Lake, Florida soaking up the heat and sun.

Sam is survived by his three children, Dwight Perkins (Nancy), Kevin Perkins and Lisa Walton (Todd); five grandchildren, Tyler (Cheryl), Hilary Perkins, Gabriella, Janelle and Marissa; one great-grandson, Cole; his companion and friend, Gail Hirschi; one sister, Barb Martin as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation was held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florenceville–Bristol on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm and Monday, December 23, 2019 from 12 to 1:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm from the L.R. Giberson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Harold Sparkes will officiate. The interment will be in the United Church Community Cemetery, Florenceville at a later date.
