Obituary for Elizabeth Lapointe

July 28, 1940-December 27, 2019
It is with heavy hearts and love that the family wish to announce the passing of Elizabeth "Liz" LaPointe of Nash Creek. Liz passed away peacefully at the Campbellton Regional Hospital surrounded by her family on the evening of December 27th, 2019, at the age of 79. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Cook) Murchie.

Liz was always a social butterfly with an active calendar of events. From friendly competition at the bowling alley, showing her skills at shuffleboard, yelling "Bingo!" at the local halls and stopping at every Tim's on the way. Her voice was often heard at the evening table-talks at Shirley's Variety. Liz's laughter and friendly banter will be remembered by many.

Liz loved to travel and take trips to Moncton with her girls, enjoyed breakfasts at the Portage, bus trips to Niagara and Florida, never leaving a place the same as she found it. She was one-quarter of the Murchie Golden Girls with her Blanche-like-personality. She could often be found with her cousins Shirley and Helen, special friend Noella, and her sister Teenie. Liz was never one to turn down a good turkey dinner and vanilla ice cream, although truth-be-told, she would wonder why they didn't have maple walnut.

Liz's witty personality won over much of the third floor geriatrics. Nurses and staff formed special bonds, caring for her and laughing with her. Her roommates and neighbours on the floor became her comrades, and she had many visits by family and friends to brighten her days. She enjoyed going to the cafe for visits and chats with her great-niece Rose.

Liz is survived by her two loving daughters Brenda (Clay) and Wendy; granddaughter Vanessa; granddaughters Kayla (Camille) and Shannon (Alysha) and their father Don; great-grandchildren Brodi, Addie, West and Nate, who were her pride and joy; siblings Rhoda, Harvey (Carol), Teenie (Lorden) and Dale (Lloyd); as well as by her nieces and nephews, who will all miss her dearly.

Liz was predeceased by her husband Albert LaPointe and her siblings Dougie and Barbara Anne. Liz and her loving husband Albert are now reunited, two butterflies flying endlessly together.

At her request, there will be no funeral service. A graveside service for family and friends will take place at a later date. Details will be given at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Friends of Healthcare Foundation in honour of Elizabeth Lapointe. These funds will be used for the activities for the Longterm Recreology Department for Geriatrics and Veterans.
