Obituary for Mary Stokes

On January 2, 2020, Mary (Ross) Stokes peacefully passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 84.

Daughter of the late Frederick and Julia Ross of Tabusintac, Mary is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Stokes (Victoria, BC) and her son John Stokes (Madrid, Spain); two sisters: Roberta Hall, Carol Retallack (Tom Retallack); two brothers: Robert Ross (Myrna), Leo Ross (Arlene); sister–in–law Margo Ross, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary is predeceased by her brother Fred Ross (Josephine), brother James Ross, Sister Julia Ross, brother-in-law Lyle Hall, and Dennis Stokes.

From her humble beginnings as a young teacher in Price Settlement, to working in the Math Department of the University of Western Ontario, to the executive secretary of the board at the University of Alberta hospital, Mary served her community with grace, purpose, intellect and passion. After her career, Mary returned to Tabusintac and dedicated her life to care for her parents. She was an active member of the community and touched many lives. She loved her family, especially the little ones. Her love of music sustained her through her life journey to the end. Galloway Bay is being song by the heavenly choir today.

The visitation will be held at the Robichaud Funeral Home in Néguac on Sunday, January 5 from 1 to 3pm. Funeral service to follow at 3pm.

In Mary’s memory a donation can be made to St. George Catholic Church cemetery or donation of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are in care of Robichaud & Son Funeral Home(506) 395–2112, salonrobichaud.com
