Obituary for Marie Guignard

It is with heavy hearts, but with appreciation for a life well lived, that the family of Marie Anne Guignard, wife of the late Joseph Guignard, announces her peaceful passing, which occurred on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Kingsway Care Centre. Born in Caraquet, NB on December 26, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Ann Chaisson.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters; grandchildren James Nicolle, Ricky Guignard, Allie Guignard and Lorla Arsenault.

Marie had been an avid gardener in past years, she enjoyed playing cards with her children and spending time with her family. She was famous for her bread, fudge, pulled taffy and taffy apples.

She is survived by her loving children Jeannette Griffin (Ed) of Quispamsis, Odette Totten (Lorne) of Barnesville, Anne Roy (Joey) of Latimore Lake, David Guignard (Angie) of Cocagne, Susan Michaud (Guy) of Darlings Island and Simone McDougall (Ian) of Blenheim, ON; sisters Delicia Dee” Orr of Calgary and Simone “Jeannie” Riley of Ottawa, ON; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) on Wednesday, January 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Her funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 16 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in memory of Marie may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
