Obituary for Jean LeBlanc

1940 - 2020
Jean Joseph Eugene LeBlanc of Foyer Saint-Thomas, Memramcook, passed away on Monday, January 13th, 2020, at his residence. Born on October 28th, 1940 in Lourdes (Memramcook), NB, he was the son of the late Raphael and the late Mae (Lirette) LeBlanc of Memramcook-East.

Jean is survived by his loving wife, Diana (LeBlanc) LeBlanc whom he met in 2001 and spent many years traveling and enjoying his retirement with.

Jean was an avid bowler and golfer. He could be seen from May to Oct. on the golf course in Memramcook. The fall and winter found him back at the bowling alley getting ready for the season. He spent many mornings sharpening his bowling skills at the Dieppe Bowlarama. He was a member of the Wednesday Night Men’s league in Dieppe and also on the Sunday night mixed leagues at Fairlanes in Moncton for many years. He participated in many tournaments and was chosen to join a league from NB at the Worlds Candlepin Bowling Championship in Bangor.

Jean spent two years in the Air Force. During his lifetime Jean was a stonemason and a bricklayer (having learned the trade from his father at a very young age). He worked for 26 years with Corrections Canada, retiring in 2001.

He is also survived by one daughter, Patricia (Morel) LeBlanc of Barachois; three sons: David, Mike (late Laura), both of Marlboro, Mass., U.S.A. and Ronny (Carol) of Moncton; three brothers: Allain (Norma), Paul (Rose), both of Dieppe and Henri LeBlanc of Moncton; four sisters: Florence (late Edouard) Babineau of Dieppe, Doris (Norman) Hebert of Shediac, Bella Boucher of Dieppe and Maria of Riverview; step-daughters: Anne-Marie (late Todd) Ouellette of Dieppe and Katherine O’Neill of Moncton; Grand-Père Jean to Heather and Adrienne Ouellette; step-grandchildren: Josh and Eric; many brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews and the mother of his children, Stella LeBlanc.

Predeceased by his brother, Hector (Noëlla); his in-laws: Ernest and Rita LeBlanc; step-son-in-law, Todd Ouellette; brothers-in-law: Allan (Jeannette) Steeves, Junior (Anita LeBlanc) Coates and Raymond LeBlanc.

Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, (857-1901), on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Friday from 1pm to 2pm, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Foyer Saint-Thomas “Activity Program” or to the Handi-Bus (Memramcook) would be appreciated by the family.

A special thank-you to Jean’s special caregivers at our home. Our many angels from: Extra-Mural Staff; Cindy and Wendy from Kindred Care; Roberte and Anita from the Volunteer Relief Care in Memramcook; Florence, Annette and Pierrette for your help with relief care at home. Your kindness and generosity of time and hugs will forever hold a special place in my heart. To the staff at Villa Providence in Shediac and Foyer Saint-Thomas in Memramcook, your support and care for Jean gave us the time to laugh and enjoy each other and play a few more games of Crib. To all of you who visited at home, in the hospital and the nursing homes, thank-you.
