Obituary for Verna Gilchrist

From the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by love on Monday, January 13, 2020; Verna Margaret Gilchrist went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Born November 3, 1931 in Yarmouth, NS, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Julia (Smith) Kelsey.

Verna was a strong lady who raised her three children to be hardworking and responsible. Her faith and her love for God led the way. She was a talented baker, cook and decorator and took great pride in her home and entertaining guest and friends.

Verna is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 40 years, Ken Gilchrist of Saint John; sons Orman (Mona) and Thomas both of Ontario and daughter Deborah MacDonald (Gary) of Saint John; precious grandchildren Lloyd, Rebecca, Steven, Jessie, Jeannette and Susan; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Gabrielle, Ava, Olivia, Bailey, Taylor, James, Brandon, Micah, Tyanna, Mackenzie, Sebastian and Nolan and Carson; great-great-granddaughter Olivia.

Along with her parents; Verna was predeceased by her first husband Lloyd Fenton, brothers Thomas and George; sisters Ella and Ada and grandson John Beaulieu.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17th, 2020 from 12 Noon until time of Funeral Service which will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm.
